Josh Peters, Not on My Watch

Not on My Watch: The 21st Century Combat Medic is the story of a combat medic on the modern battlefield. Co-author Joshua Peters is the recipient of the Combat Medic Badge and two Army Commendation Medals, one with Valor Device, for actions during the attack on the CH-47 Chinook Helicopter in November 2003. He has been honored with a tribute to Heroism in the Congressional Record of the 108th Congress. Josh currently resides in the Indianapolis metro area. This event is part of Mudsock's Grand Opening celebration, July 12-19.

Legacies of Hamilton County: Women of Entrepreneurial Spirit

Legacies of Hamilton County: Women of Entrepreneurial Spirit profiles 83 women who own and operate small businesses here in Hamilton County. A variety of businesses are highlighted from services to shops and boutiques, each with its own unique story. Each story is accompanied by a professional portrait by Master Photographer, Jim Wyant, of Wyant Photography Inc., capturing the essence of each lady, as well as several images of supporting families. Five of the profiled women will talk about the challenges of owning a business and the wisdom that they have learned over the years, and then they will sign copies of the book. The featured guests will be Kay Krober (Kay Krober Invitations and Celebrations), Jan Miller (Jan's Village Pizza), Barb Smith (Scheitlin Communications), Cherie Piebes (Artisan Masterpiece) and Ann Hanson (Annie's Tea Wagon).

Wanda Morlan Eilts, Floating Hogans in Monument Valley: Remembering the First Marina in Navajoland


Wanda Morlan Eilts and her husband Terry became part of history when they became the managers of Lake Powell's first floating marina near the mouth of the San Juan River. They were only at the marina for one year, but it was a year they would always remember. Originally from Reelsville, Indiana, Morlan Eilts will share her experiences of operating the marina and insights into the Navajo way of life. This is a "brown bag" lunch program so please bring your lunch; dessert and drinks are provided. Copies of Floating Hogans in the Monument Valley will be available for purchase and a book signing will follow the program.
